AEGIS Europe has topical working groups and task force, which develop and implement the work program:

  • Trade Defence Instruments WG: The WG was established to focus on the implementation of the EU’s anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and safeguard instruments in the light of the need to maintain a level playing field in world trade. Despite the modernisation of our trade defence laws, there are still many legal and practical challenges ahead in the trade defence field.

  • WTO WG: The WG focusses on the modernisation of the WTO as a necessary step to address competing economic and political systems. The Alliance calls for policy reforms of WTO rules for a global level playing field.

  • Public Procurement WG: It aims at raising the profile of international and EU public procurement and related industry problems towards EU decision-makers. The WG is pushing for a number of far-reaching reforms in the various dimensions of public procurement, including strengthening and closing loopholes in the EU framework, achieving reciprocity in international procurement and also addressing financing-aspects linked to public procurement.

  • Customs and rules of origin WG: The WG focuses on safeguarding the industries’ interests in respect of the implementation of various customs issues, including the Union Customs Code and provisions of Rules of Origin in EU bilateral Free Trade Agreements.

  • EP forum: AEGIS Europe has created a European Parliament Forum with MEPs. The objective is to alert MEPs on issues related to a specific theme linked to international trade, notably via the organisation of events.

  • Carbon Border Adjustment TF: It was set up to secure a common – trade related - understanding of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism within AEGIS Europe, and identify the key requirements and red lines for a CBAM to be successful. This was expressed in the joint answer to the Inception Impact Assessment and the public consultation of the European Commission. The TF is now working on deepening this common understanding and exploring the different CBAM options.
